The
Gila Monster and the Mexican Beaded Lizard are the only two species
of seriously venomous lizards. They cannot be mistaken for anything
else, and should be avoided if encountered. They may seem sluggish in
movement, but from personal experience, they can be very fast and strong
and be aggressive in nature. Most people that have been bitten by either
the Gila Monster or the Mexican Beaded Lizard have been playing with
them or teasing them. They primarily live in the Desert Southwest from
Mexico up into Nevada, Arizona, Utah, California and New Mexico. They
feed on small mammals, birds and eggs. The Gila Monster and the Mexican
Beaded Lizard have grooves in their teeth that conduct nerve toxin poison
into the wounds they make when they bite. They do not have fangs like
snakes.
This
Gila Monster plaster
and craft mold can be used for casting plaster or Papier-mâché
work. They
make great wall hangings! They can be painted or stained.
