2. Tell
a Friend About Us, it's EASY.
_______________________________________________________________________
Now on
just about every page on our site there is a big blue button with
(Send a Link) on it
that you can click on to tell a family member, friend, or several
friends about that particular page of our
site. Once you send them the quick note about the page you were on,
you are returned back
to the page you did the referral from.
Each
time a referral is made, the form lets us know the email address of
the person that did the referral.
It is my plan to make this an additional area that I can award our
sites visitors in a real way. I am not certain
yet how that will work, but I will see how it goes and let the subscribers
of this newsletter know
what the plan is for the awards to be given to those people that help
us spread the word about our site :-)

3. Plaster
Molding, not just for crafts anymore.
_______________________________________________________________________
Plaster
molding is a fun and profitable hobby and many businesses have been
grown from the kitchen table into
very large companies with this material. Some of us older folks have
seen many items come down through the ages
as "Chalkware" or products made and painted to be hung on
the walls for decorations.
Some less familiar uses are the vast ornamental applications done
in large churches and other buildings where
the plaster may be painted or used to mimic stone, wood, or other
types of surfaces. Huge cathedral arches and
other fancy architecture has been done with plaster for centuries.
With
the addition of colors, plaster casting can take on a complete new
transition for our modern day uses.
An example
of this might be to use our tile molds for casting plaster tiles to
be put on the walls or ceilings
of a home or office.
I am
wanting to try some castings where I make up some colored tiles and
then let them set up and
remove them from the molds and then crush them up into small granules.
I would then sprinkle mixtures of the colored
granules onto the surface of a prepared mold before pouring in the
plaster backing, or mix the granules into
a new mix of plaster to be poured into the prepared molds. Once set
and dried, the tiles may be sanded if needed
to bring out the colored granules to in affect give a stone type of
finish to the tile. Since the particles are not
just painted on the surface, but part of the finished tiles, there
is no telling all the kinds of results you can get
with this type of work.
Another
method may be to put lines or splatters of colored wet plaster into
the prepared molds using any number of
methods to do this, and then filling in the rest of the molds with
plaster that has been colored for the desired effect.
Using
sheet rock mud, you can use a glue trowel to spread the mud either
onto the wall or on the plaster tiles
and press them onto the desired surfaces. They will become part of
the wall for all intensive purposes. This type of work
will increase the fire resistance of the walls and can be finished
with clear coats after it has dried.
Colors
used for concrete casting will work in plaster very well. Tempera
paint will also work, but I don't know how well
it will hold up to sunlight or UV exposure of daylight or fluorescent
lighting.
Plaster
can be cut, drilled, sanded, finished, painted, stained, and glued
to just about anything. It is highly absorbent
after it has dried, so many types of stains can be used for countless
effects.
What
can you create with plaster?

place to post your crafts or business for free on the Internet.

Many of you may have heard of Craig's List on the Internet. If you
haven't, then visit
http://www.craigslist.com and choose your state and city to see what
is being offered there.
Craig's List is a great resource for finding all kinds of things in
most local areas, as
well as offering your creations or products for sale. Craig's List
is more of a community
than places like eBay and is free to use for most things you want
to post. An exception to
this may be Real-estate for certain areas in the country.
